2019 Hands-On Curatorial Program

by | Apr 4, 2019 | Hands-On Curatorial Program

Now in its fifth year working with high school students, the Hands-On Curatorial Program provides an opportunity for high school students to work hands-on with the Coe collection of over 2,000 works of indigenous art from around the world. Through museum visits and weekly sessions, the curators learn how to create their own exhibition from the Coe collection.

They select objects, do research, write wall and catalog text, write press releases, design exhibition lay-out and graphics, and interact with our visitors…all skills which prepare them to succeed in any endeavor, from creating art to creating a business.

The 2019 student curators are Gailene Morgan (Meskwaki Nation & Tesuque Pueblo), Ashlyn Lovato (Santa Clara Pueblo), Aurora Escobedo (Tesuque Pueblo), Roan Mulholland (ATC) , Lesly Esparza (NMSA) and Veronica Silva (NMSA).

Their exhibition, Recollective Echo, opens to the public Friday, May 10, 5-7 pm. Admission is free and we hope to see you there!
