Dorothy H. Bracey is Professor Emeritus of Anthropology and Comparative Legal Systems at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. She holds a AB from the College of William and Mary, a Ph.D. from Harvard University, and a MLS from Yale Law School.

Dorothy was president of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), board chair of the School for Advanced Research (SAR),and chair of Los Compadres del Palacio and head of it Windows on History campaign. She was vice-chair of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation and head of its planned giving initiative.

Her awards include the Academy Fellow award from ACJS, the G.E.O Mueller Award for contributions to International Criminal Justice, a Certificate of Appreciation for Exemplary Public Service from the state of New York, and a Historic Preservation Award from the State of New Mexico.
